LOTRO Veteran Guardsman's Mark
Updated for Update 2

Skirmish Marks, the barter currency used in skirmish camps, drop in all skirmishes and in the new scaled instances. They are also rewarded by some quests and deeds. In addition to Skirmish Marks (SM), there are four types of special marks that drop in skirmishes and scaled instances.

Soldier Marks

Soldier Marks drop in addition to regular skirmish marks in skirmishes and scalable instances. Think of these as bag-space-sucking, skirmish mark concentrates. Redeem them at the skirmish camp for regular skirmish marks.

Campaign Marks

Campaign Marks drop from bosses and encounters in specific groups of skirmishes, also known as campaigns. Increasing the tier will increase the drop rate. Barter these (along with regular skirmish marks) for cosmetic, housing and other items. Redeem the excess for regular skirmish marks.

New with Update 2 are Moria Campaign Marks, which drop in the new epic book 2.5.5 skirmishes. Per the Battle for Moria (2.5.5) Skirmishes Dev Diary, the barter list from the Sage of Moria is being added to the Skirmish vendors with the Moria Campaign Token.

Per the V3B1 Skirmishes Dev Diary, increasing the tier of skirmishes will increase the drop rate. Barter these (along with skirmish and instance marks) for some of the best rewards available in skirmish camp. Redeem the excess for regular skirmish marks.

LOTRO Helegrod Mark
Instance Marks drop in the scaled instances, usually from the daily quests. Along with skirmish marks and level/group size marks, instance marks are used to barter for "classic" gear, cosmetics, housing items and other treasure at the Classic skirmish vendor. Redeem the excess for regular skirmish marks.

Does anyone know why i've not gotten any more First Marks? I've ran at least 5 Siege of Gondamon and a couple of Hobbit ones at lvl 31 and no First Marks. I sold the first one i had before i knew i needed it for the purple items. Any secrets to getting them?

Just make sure your looting the Lieutenant's that u can loot. Also, doing the encounters may help with that also but doing encounters is optional. Im not sure if marks drop better in one instance versus another. Good luck

I do seem to get more First Marks in Trouble in Tuckborough (maybe because the relative lack of encounters in Siege of Gondamon?)
